About Mrs. Stratton ...
Mrs. Stratton has taken a new position with Howard High School for the 2013-2014 school year. She is very sad to leave Meade Sr. High, at the same time excited to start her new position in Howard County. Say hello to her here! :)
The 2008-2009 school year was Mrs. Stratton's first year teaching at the secondary level. Her previous experience includes teaching post-secondary International Relations and World Politics, as well as lecturing on the Politics of Food and the Political Economy of the Environment. She also teaches US Government at Meade Senior, and has taught 7th Grade Geography & World Cultures at Bonnie Branch MS in Howard County.
Mrs. Stratton recently graduated as part of the 2011 Inaugural Class of the Leadership Development Institute; LDI is a newly developed leadership initiative of the 21st Century Education Foundation recruiting individuals from education and business sectors to affect positive change within schools and businesses in Anne Arundel County. She holds a MAT from Johns Hopkins University, a MA in Political Science from the University of Arizona, and is abd from the University of Delaware's Center for Energy & Environmental Policy. Mrs. Stratton is from the Philadelphia area, and did her BA at the West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
The 12th grade year of the International Baccalaureate program is a rigorous, pre-university course designed to challenge highly motivated secondary students. Students will develop into self-motivated, self-directed problem solvers and decision-makers that will acquire the skills necessary for learning and develop a sense of self-worth and confidence in their ability to participate in a changing society. Each student's success depends upon her/his ability to set high academic standards, respecting others, maintaining a positive attitude, and always striving to do her/his best.
